Client: Fundación Creata — National NGO

The challenge

Guaviare's tourism sector lacked a structured system to collect, store, and visualize data about the region, which limited evidence-based public and private decision-making. Information was scattered, with no capture standards or accessible tools for the ecosystem's stakeholders. This situation made it impossible to measure the real impact of tourism in the region, hindered public policy planning, and reduced the competitiveness of local tourism service providers.

The solution

We designed and built a complete system for collecting, structuring, and visualizing tourism data for Guaviare. It included data capture forms, surveys, data dictionaries, and Power BI dashboards to support public and private decisions. The project, funded by USAID, gave the region a permanent tool to monitor and develop the tourism sector, with information that is comparable across periods and service providers and accessible to stakeholders in the regional ecosystem.

How did Arcetec transform tourism data management in Guaviare?

Before Arcetec's involvement, the Guaviare Tourism Observatory faced a significant challenge: the absence of a structured system for collecting, storing, and visualizing data. This resulted in scattered information with no clear capture standards, which prevented stakeholders in the tourism ecosystem from accessing tools that would support evidence-based decision-making. The lack of organized data limited the ability to measure the real impact of tourism and to plan effective public policies.

To address this problem, Arcetec designed and built a comprehensive system. This solution included the development of data capture forms, standardized surveys, and data dictionaries to ensure consistency. Visualization took shape through interactive Power BI dashboards that presented the information clearly and accessibly. This project, funded by USAID, gave the region a permanent and robust tool.

The result was a system that not only made it easier to collect and structure information but also provided a platform to continuously monitor and develop the tourism sector. Service providers and public entities can now access data that is comparable across different periods and stakeholders, which drives better-informed decision-making and contributes to the competitiveness and sustainable growth of tourism in the region.
