What's the difference between Microsoft 365 Copilot and a Copilot Studio agent?

Microsoft 365 Copilot is the assistant that works inside Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams with the documents each person can already see. A Copilot Studio agent is built for a specific task in your company—answering questions about a process, querying a system or running a workflow—and is published in Teams.

Can AI see information it shouldn't?

No: Copilot and agents inherit permissions from Entra ID and SharePoint and don't expand them. That's why permissions are reviewed before anything is turned on: AI makes visible the disorder that already existed.

Is our data used to train Microsoft's models?

No. Microsoft doesn't use the prompts, responses or data in your Microsoft 365 tenant to train foundation models; they remain under your company's contract with Microsoft.

Do we need to buy new licenses?

It depends on what you already have. Many use cases start with your current Microsoft 365 and Power Automate licenses; Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio are licensed separately. The assessment tells you what's needed before you buy.

Can we start with something small?
